AIESEC IMPACT: LOW CARBON LIFESTYLE

Date: 26 Feb, 2011

Place: Zakir Rose Garden, Chandigarh

Spreading the message of the need for a low carbon lifestyle were 6 AIESEC interns from Peru, Germany & Netherlands at the rose festival on 26 Feb 2011. While stating the need for people to start using cycles to reduce vehicular pollution, the six also promoted the need for people to start acting immediately to reduce pollution.

The awareness campaign which has been organized by AIESEC in Chandigarh and Environmental Society of India was a big attention seeker in the festival. The interns imparted knowledge about various issues related to the environment to people of different age group, from 7 yr old to 70. Also people were motivated to pen down pledges that they wanted to dedicate on their part for the environment and themselves.

The event was well covered by TV news channels and print media, branding the project as well as the organization. Also it was a great learning experience for the trainees as it was also a huge part of their job role. The target audience was all ages and so generated a bigger and wider impact.

It was that time of the year again.

The time to know if we held our ground, to bid adieu to the leaders that led us, to welcome a new leadership body and to celebrate.

It was time for January Local Congress.

Chaired by our very own MCVP OGX, Ayush Sharma, this forum was special to each AIESEC Chandigarh member in a different way.

The congress commenced with the high spirited opening plenary and was followed by a session by the LCP, elucidating his concept for the local committee i.e. “Dream Unlimited” and the road ahead for this wonderful phenomenon known as AIESEC Chandigarh.

This was followed by celebration of togetherness and a successful year.

The next morning was the State of Local Affairs, wherein every VP comes and gives a final updated of his/her portfolio which includes BCPs and bottlenecks and tips for their successors. There is also a question/answer round for the GB to clear their doubts.

It was here, that the GB knew that all their hard work and toil had paid off and AIESEC Chandigarh was the No.1 LC in the entire country. It was a proud moment for all members.

After that was the Award’s Night. This is one forum which is highly anticipated by every member. It is one way for the Executive Body to recognize and appreciate the GB members for their unique contribution the success of the LC.

Global Village 2011

The event name “GLOBAL VILLAGE”  held in Chitkara university is a global event in which interns from all over world from different country had come and told us about their country through which we encourage culture exchange for students ,it is very knowledgeable experience as they get to know about different countries and can explore the world around. This kind of events should be encouraged as for Global awareness and to know more about our environment as we are part of it and we are the ones to take it forward. An event where different nationalities come to know how similar they are in different aspects of life, an event where we would realize how we come under the same umbrella of life, an event where we get a chance to get the Global Perspective. Interns from different countries get a chance to showcase their culture and make the not very aware world ‘aware’.
With loads of international food, jives and eXperiences, this event also promises closer view to those living a million miles away. We experience how small the WORLD we live in is. This event is not only for us, but for the peace of mind and exposure of our soul.

“Diversity in the world is a basic characteristic of human society, and also the key condition for a lively and dynamic world as we see today.
