ISSUE BASED PROJECTS & INITIATIVES
Issue based projects run by AIESEC are aimed at providing an AIESEC experience around a specific issue or field which is relevant to our external environment and potential for global exchange. We have these issues or fields at various levels/sectors creating leadership opportunities and internship opportunities around the same:
Project Genesis (HIV/AIDS)
Project Genesis focuses on HIV/AIDS as an issue. It is a long term Project. WE facilitate internship around this project and involve NGO’s in and around the city who work with us on this issue.In March(07) and September(07) we conducted events where we had interactive sessions on the issue involving students from schools and colleges.
Project ASK (HIV/AIDS)
This project also works around the issue of HIV/AIDS. It is a short term project and has its first phase in June-July and the second face in August –September. Though the NGO’s linked up with this project are the same as that working with Project Genesis but the only difference is that it is a short term project and is an awareness program. The NGO’s, interns from various parts of the world and school children would be working on this project.
PROJECT Footprints (Child Rights)
We have associated with NGO’S which work with children, consolidating our client base, we aim at promoting internships around children. The job roles vary from managing and living in an orphanage to teaching at slum schools to working with handicapped children as well vocational training for underprivileged children. We also associate with the NGO’S working around the issue of child labour and child abuse.
Project Pragati (Rural and Community Development)
This field is very broad covering various activities run by NGO’S to provide a better lifestyle to the people who are living with social , cultural and economic backwardness.The interns work in urban rural slums and villages on issues such as female foeticide, health, education, sanitation , youth empowerment, accessibility,etc.
Project Conserve
The objective of the Conserve Program is to approach the general problem of Environment, offering students or recent graduates (trainees) the opportunity of a rigorous traineeship program in Chandigarh. Their work will focus on building capacity in different Chandigarh NGOs or other Environment-related Organizations which fight against this epidemy as well as offering youth peer education in high schools.
Project Worldview, Akshar, Make A Impact and Inlingua (Education)
These projects run in collaboration with the schools in the city and we facilitate the internship program wherein the interns come from various parts of the world to work in these schools on a project or to teach the students on various topics (ranging from cultural education to skill development)..the interns bring an international perspective to the Indian classrooms through different activities based on workshops they take.
Project Phoenix (Technology)
This project identifies the advancement in technology and how this development has an effect on our daily lives. We partner with IT/ITES companies that are relatively new and have a requirement of young and enthusiastic people working with them.
Project Eureka (Entrepreneurship)
This project collaborates with our corporate clients and works around the challenges faced by the corporate world today. Lack of entrepreneurial skills, amongst employees is a problem that is being faced by the biggest corporate houses of the world, and we in AIESEC Chandigarh facilitate internships around this project.
